Two things I love in life: getting facials and makeovers.

I love it even more when it’s affordable or better yet – FREE! To me, it’s not so much about the end result of the facial or makeover. It’s 100% about the experience. The oh so wonderful, happy, relaxing, life-is-great-feeling, positive experience. For those brief moments in time, everything just feels so light, carefree, and plain amazing. On a bad day, I treat myself to a facial. On a good day, I might reward myself with a facial. Or just because! Bottom line: I love these wellness experiences and I’ve made them part of my lifestyle 😉

I love facials and makeovers so much (dare I might say they are my passions), but they can get a bit pricey. Three thoughts I have on this predicament:

    • I sometimes get mine at the local beauty schools (Paul Mitchell, etc) as they are more affordable than getting it at a spa or beauty counter. The experience is as amazing as getting it from a spa – because for me, it’s the experience/process of getting pampered/relaxing vs the end result.
    • To get it for FREE, I’ll book a mini facial at Origins (but I always feel bad so I end up buying a product or two). To get a free makeover, I’ll book a custom makeover at Sephora’s (they require a $50 purchase, which is fine because I use it as an opportunity to stock up on essentials). Also, if you are really strapped for cash, you could always return the products at a later date 😉
    • I envision there must be people out there who are just like me in this regards: people who enjoy the experience of getting pampered via a facial/makeover (and not caring so much about the end result i.e. professional) but don’t have the funds to get these services regularly.  I’ve been thinking about this for quite some time now, and feel like there’s a need for affordable pamper services. After getting my mini facial at Origins and speaking with the esthetician there (who’s also the manager of Origin’s in Sacramento), I realized that I want to fill that need in the marketplace! The idea has always been there (check out my services page here), but I’m ready to move forward with growing the idea. This starts with getting my esthetician license. But in the meantime, if you or someone you know is in need of affordable and regular facials/makeovers, I’m your gal! I’ve performed basic facials on friends/family before, and I’ve also done makeovers on friends – as well as having worked in the beauty department of a local department store. I both love getting and giving these wellness services – ha!

Phew, that was a lot (are you still with me?), but this is a topic that I’m super excited about. If you have ideas on my idea (seeing it come into fruition, people I need to talk to, etc etc) let me know in the comments or email me. I would so appreciate it!

Lastly! I wore this dress to my facial and makeover appointment and I love how a breezy dress + nude sandals + casual bag makes you look instantly put-together! The dress is lovely and perfect for summer and fall, and I’m selling it over on my Poshmark closet for those interested. I love the dress, but my closet is so small that I need to say goodbye to it.

Btw, are you a facials or makeover gal? Where do you go and how often? Let me know! Thanks you, guys! 🙂
