    Why, hello there!

Nice seeing you again, it’s been a minute. I’ve been struggling with some things behind-the-scenes, but I’m ready to get back into the swing of things. The best thing to do when you’re feeling icky/down/etc? Wear something extra nice, get outside the house, and challenge yourself to get through it. Everyone struggles through life at one point or another (and many times over!), but it’s how you react when things aren’t going well – that truly defines and strengthens a person. This is what I remind myself, over and over again…

A lot has happened since my last post. The biggest setback of all was getting laid off from my dream job, which I wrote about previously on the blog. The timing just wasn’t right, and I’m very very grateful for the four months I spent learning a completely different industry – an industry I had been wanting to get into for SUCH a long time! I was laid off at the end of June, and since then I’ve struggled with a few personal things (my health, anxiety, sleep, figuring out what to do next, navigating unemployment and healthcare – ohh my).

On the plus side: I’m working through personal challenges, getting to figure out what I truly want to do next, becoming more informed about what’s happening in the community, region, nation, globally (a big goal of mine this year!), spending time with friends/family/puppy/new guy in my life (!), and making the most of this (unemployed) time that I have. Truly, despite the lack of sleep at times and frustration over health and anxiety, it has been pretty nice, and I’m a lucky gal. So – in the toughest of times, there’s always a silver lining!

This dress made me excited about life again. I wore it to my sister’s pop-up shop in Roseville, and although it was triple digits that evening, I had a relaxing and fun time at the Maker’s Mart. My parents helped my sister set-up her booth, and it looked great! If you’re interested in one of a kind gift items, or have a wedding coming up, I encourage you to check out her site and services! I like the dress because of the fun print, silky fabric, and because it’s a midi dress. I LOVE midi/maxi dresses, even on short frames (learning to embrace my figure!), and I like how it hides mosquito-bitten legs! The dress is from Rebecca Minkoff, and I’ve linked some similar options below.

How’s your summer going? What’s new in your life? Have you had disappointing news lately, and how do you overcome it? Let me know below, I would love to hear from you. Thanks for taking the time to visit today, even when I don’t post consistently. I appreciate every single one of you!
