Welcome to the February edition of Lisa Lately – a post dedicated to catching you dear readers up on what has been going on behind-the-scenes with little ol’ me lately…

First off, it has been a crazy/wonderful 2017 so far, and we’re only in the second month of the year *major pat on the back* so I’m super excited for what else is in store this year, and beyond. I’ve been so busy that I haven’t had the time (and it has been raining nonstop in Sacramento) to shoot outfit photos, so I have nothing new to share with you guys. I’ve purchased a couple of new things that I’ve been LOVING, so once the weather is nice and sunny, I’ll be able to wear it out! I’m especially excited to wear a sexy date night ensemble and JEWELRY! (I rarely wear jewelry so I’m extra excited!)

So what’s been going on with me lately? LOTS!

Job/Work: So the biggest news of all is I put in my 2 week notice at my job in early February. My last full time day will be February 17. It was such a tough decision to walk away from a steady paycheck and good benefits, but ultimately I decided that I wanted to really explore new opportunities this year. I have been saving for almost a year now, so I’m in good shape financially, but it is still a scary thing to do (especially in this economy, ESPECIALLY with this new administration). BUT – 2017 (for me) is all about embracing discomfort and following/figuring out my dreams! In the next few weeks, I’ll be working on lining up part time, remote and/or internships to pay the bills and learn more about jobs and industries that are a good fit for me!

Relationship/Love: I’m dedicating this year to… meeting the love of my life! I’m being extra open-minded and making an effort to meet men in my everyday life. Also, I’m trying to get outside of my comfort zone (romantically) and being more honest and sincere with my emotions (this is a toughie for me!!) without being afraid of “scaring” the guy off (ha!). Right now, I’m just enjoying getting to know the men that have come into my life recently.

Social: I haven’t been going to social events as much recently, but I blame it on the rainy weather and my busy schedule. After February 17, I’ll have much more time to do fun things, go on spontaneous road trips (have two planned already!), visit friends, and go for a much needed hike! I’m so happy that my schedule will be much more flexible this year!!

Blogging: I haven’t been too active on social media or updating this blog, but I’m hoping to commit to a weekly schedule in a week or so. I’ve been brainstorming new post/content ideas that I’m hoping to introduce on the blog in a few weeks. Since I won’t have the luxury of a full time work income anymore, I won’t be able to go shopping as much. I’ll continue to do my fashion posts, but with less direct item links, unfortunately.

Personal/Other: I’m SUPER excited to be starting an esthetics program in late February. It will be a 7-month part time/night program, so it’ll be a completely new schedule for me. I haven’t been in school since 2007, so I’m super excited to be back in the classroom again. It’ll be a completely different educational experience (beauty school vs college) which I’m very, very excited about. It will be interesting to be in an educational setting with a small class size, (probably) mainly female students, and hands on instruction. I absolutely LOVE getting facials, so I can’t wait to learn how to perform the amazingly therapeutic service on other people.

So there you have it… why I’ve been super busy and not posting as much on the blog! I hope my post has inspired some of you to think about what you want to accomplish in 2017 and to embrace discomfort, do something different, be fearless, and chase/discover your dreams! It’s now or never! 🙂

Thanks so much for following along and if you have any questions, please leave in the comments or feel free to email me! I hope you all have an amazing week!

My sister’s wreath (shown in the second photo) can be found on her Etsy shop. Her shop is filled with a bunch of creative and hand-made items that would be a great gift for the one-of-a-kind person in your life! Or even a sweet little treat for yourself! 🙂
