When in doubt… go with the basics!

Today I want to share a basic outfit I wore while running errands around town. I am a self-proclaimed girly girl, BUT lately I’ve been investing in both basic pieces and basic investment pieces (you know what I’m talking about). While perusing a ton of my favorite blogs, I realized that each one of them had core basics woven throughout their posts – basics that I was lacking in. I just want to clear up that basics do not equal boring! Rather, think of it as a blank canvas – a blank canvas to adorn with your own unique twist.

For instance, the two basics (not basic investment pieces, which I’ll talk about in future posts on my blog… perhaps) that I’m loving in this outfit are a woven black skirt and a knotted gray tee. Each piece can obviously be worn in so many ways alone, but together they create a chic starting point for so many styling options as well. In this post, I added some black lace-up flats, funky cat-eye sunglasses, and a cross-body purse (from Sammydress) for a chic and put-together look.

I can change the look all-together with the blanket scarf (from Sammydress) and brown booties, as pictured in the other outfits – and now I’m ready for apple picking, coffee dates and other fall activities. When finding a basic piece to add to your closet, I encourage you to find quality pieces that you’ll want to wear for seasons to come. I also encourage you to spend a bit more on these pieces as they are the pieces that you’ll wear consistently, from one outfit to the next.

Sammydress has an ASSORTMENT of affordable and chic finds on their website. You have to really thumb through the site but I was happy to pick up the blanket scarf and cross-body purse in the pictured outfits. I’ve already worn both items several times, and the cross-body purse is similar(ish) to that Chloe purse you’ve all seen and love (But just can’t seem to justify… at least I can’t!)

What are some of your must-have basic pieces? Also, where do you like to shop for them? Thanks for stopping by today!! I hope you guys have a fabulous weekend – last weekend of September. Boo hoo! Goodbye, favorite month* of the year, you’ve been so good to me!!!!

*I have several of them 😉
