• One thing I love about the blogging community is getting inspired by the everyday, “normal” girl.  Maybe it’s just me, but I find that so many fashion bloggers these days wear over the top outfits just for the sake of photographing it on their blog.  The looks are beautiful, don’t get me wrong, but they just don’t seem like something the average girl could wear (or afford! cause they’re expensive!) So while browsing blogs the other day, I came across McKenna’s blog, Style Waltz, and was inspired by her adorable plaid top.  I loved her entire look (that purple cardigan, the over the knee boots!), but I only had a plaid shirt in my closet.  So below is my version of her “casual plaid” ensemble.

    Jeans: Forever 21
    Wedges: Calvin Klein
    Plaid shirt: c/o Crossroads
Faux faux vest: a gift from the boyfriend (I think the shop is Ho Chi in Citrus Heights?) If anyone is curious, I can find out the shop name 🙂
Tan purse: vintage shop in Midtown Sacramento

I wore this outfit for a casual day of shopping.  Sigh. It seems like all I do lately is shop, which is ironic because I’m unemployed and have negative funds in my account (*getting there). Here’s to hoping for getting a job soon!!!

On a more positive note, I really liked this casual look, and I love plaid! Plaid is so chic, comfy and goes with everything! I also loved adding this vest to the shirt – it made it a bit more winter appropriate.  Also lately, I’ve been getting into dark skinny jeans, and I feel like they go with everything.  I find it hard to find skinny jeans that flatter my figure (I’m already skinny!! But I don’t want to look toooo skinny, if you know what I mean…) but these ones are pretty good! If you know of good ones, do let me know! Thanks!! 🙂

Lastly,  I’m glad that I got into blogging because it really does inspire me to try new looks and put more of an effort into what I wear on a daily basis… Even if I’m just shopping or walking around town. Still nice to look somewhat decent!

Thanks for visiting! Hope you’re having a great day!

  • One of my goals for creating this blog was to look more polished and “put together” on a regular basis, aka wearing more makeup. On a daily basis, I do not wear much makeup (at least right now I don’t, being unemployed and all), and I notice that sometimes, it affects my mood and how I interact with others.  When you look great, you feel great, and this translates in how you interact with the world.  So with that being said, I want to use more of my (many) makeup products this year, and try out new looks on a semi-regular basis.  I wore this look below for a day of shopping, but I see myself wearing this for many different occasions as well.

Starting with a clean face…Excuse the robe, it was just too comfy 🙂
I use Dior HyrdaLife moisturizer, an eye cream, and lip balm first so it has time to absorb into my skin.  I don’t typically wear foundation on a day-to-day basis because I hate how it makes my skin look and feel.
Letting the products sink into my skin…
I use Maybeline FitMe powder, Loreal DreamLumi highlighting concealer, and the Benefit Pore Professional to make my skin look as flawless as can be.
I apply a bit of the concealer on my dark circles to conceal and highlight.
I use the Milani XL bronzer to bronze my cheeks and temples, Mac’s Coppertone blush, and my (favorite!) elf Baked Highlighter in Moonlight pearls to highlight my cheekbones.  Brushes used are the Morphe face brush and RealTechniques stippling brush.

For the eye look, I created a very natural look using a few eyeshadows from MakeupGeek.  I also used an eyebrow pencil product from Milani, the DiorShow Lash Maximizer and Urban Decay Perversion mascara.  Eye brushes used were a combination of MakeupGeek and Morphe.

On the crease: Creme Brulee and Peach Smoothie
    Outer V: Cocoa Bear
    Lids: Purely Naked
Inner corner and brow highlight: Shimma Shimma

Lips: ColourPop LippieStix pen and lipstick in Brink.  It is a very natural color, creamy, and matte! I love this lipstick (and I’m not typically a fan of lip products!)

The completed look pictured here at Urban Outfitters 🙂

    Love the cheekbone highlight!!
I hope you enjoyed this simple makeup look! The lighting is terrible (I know!), and hopefully I can find a better camera pronto.  I’ve been using my smart phone to take my blog photos.  Also, maybe it’s easier to show these makeup looks in a YouTube video?  What do you think? I have yet to create a YouTube video, and to be honest, I’m a bit nervous about creating one… Let me know if you’ve filmed makeup looks, and any tips you have!

  • Home cooking. This is a chicken larb dish that my brother’s boyfriend made recently.  It was really tasty, and it looks pretty awesome also! I’m totally inspired to cook Asian cuisines and work on the plating of it as well.

Firehouse curd from the Farmer’s Market.  I get  my organic cheese fix from the local Farmer’s Market on Saturdays.  I am a big fan of the firehouse and smoked jack cheese variety, and love frequenting the Farmer’s Market solely for cheese.  It’s great as an appetizer for a party or just to snack on during the week.

A simple makeup brush holder.  I made this using a mason jar, added some twine and a cute polka dot label to make it cuter.  It’s nice to look at every morning as I’m getting ready for the day.

I’ve been loving this “Strawberry Icing” candle from WoodWick lately.  I’ve had it for a few weeks now and I burn it very frequently.  It smells amazing and lasts a really long time.  I definitely need to invest in more of these candles, especially because I rely on them for heat during the wintertime!

A simple makeup look for everyday.  I tried this look for an interview recently, and I love how polished and simple it is.  I definitely like to experiment with makeup looks, but I’ve always been a fan of simple, everyday looks as well.  This will be my new go-to look for a polished finish!
Recently, I got a new phone, so all of the photos that had been stored in there for my blog posts are gone!! In the meantime, I’m working on taking more photos with my new phone, but most importantly, I’m working on investing in a good camera to take my blog photos.  Stay tuned!
